Last week, I had the pleasure of leading virtual classroom lessons with kindergarten, first, and second grade students! I very much enjoyed meeting our new kindergartners and seeing our sweet first and second grade students again. Even though we can't be together in person, our time was a great opportunity to build connection and grow together.
During the lesson, we talked about feelings and how it's possible to have more than one feeling at a time. We read "I'm Happy-Sad Today" and proceeded to make "Feelings Hearts." Creating "Feelings Hearts" allowed students the opportunity to explore the many different feelings they may currently be having. They also had the opportunity to share their hearts with the class, creating an awareness of similar or different feelings among their peers. This is a great activity to continue practicing at home during this time. I encouraged to students make another heart the next day, or a couple days later, to see how their feelings have changed. I reminded them that it's totally normal to have more than one feeling at a time and it's also normal for their feelings to change all the time.
